NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept, 12 – Azimio La Umoja =One Kenya Alliance leader Raila Odinga has said that he will not be attending President-elect William Ruto’s inauguration on Tuesday.
The former premier said that he spoke to Ruto this evening during a telephone conversation where he was invited to the ceremony.
“I regret that I will not be available for the inauguration because I am out f the country and I also have other serious concerns,” he said in a press release.
Odinga also expressed displeasure at the Supreme Court ruling while also noting that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) did not conduct fair elections.
“For these reasons, the outcome of the election remains indeterminate. Once I return to the country, I will jointly with Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition leaders, announce our next steps as we seek to deepen and strengthen democracy”, he said.
He also thanked the millions of supporters who voted for him.
“In the meantime, I applaud and thank our supporters and Kenyans who came out in large numbers to vote for us on August 9, 2022,”
Ruto will be sworn-in on Tuesday at the Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani In Nairobi county where 20 heads of state, at least 2,500 VIP guests, and 60,000 Kenyans will be in attendance.
