NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 13- At least 20 Heads of State are among 2,500 VIPs expected to attend President-elect William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua’s inauguration on Tuesday.
The event will be held at the 60,000-capacity Kasarani Stadium on Tuesday, before 2 pm according to the law.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to hand over the instruments of power to Kenya’s fifth President- who was his Deputy for 10 years. Kenyatta had picked Raila Odinga as his preferred successor.
Among the leaders who have since arrived in the country include President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and his DRC counterpart Felix Tshisekedi.
Others are Cleophas Sipho Dlamini, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Eswatini, Swaziland accompanied by First Lady Lomvula Dlamini.
Christian Wulff, former President of the Federal Republic of Germany will also be attending the event.
Also in the country is Emmerson Mnangagwa, President of Zimbabwe.
Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud also arrived on Monday night for the event.
Ruto is set to embark on a 5-year term as Kenya’s fifth President. He served as a Deputy President for 10 years under President Uhuru Kenyatta.
President Kenyatta has since congratulated the incoming President and is expected at Kasarani to hand over the instrument of powers.
