NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct, 21 – Police are investigating an incident where unknown assailants broke into an Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) warehouse in Nyeri and stole 82 power banks and an unknown number o Kenya Integrated Election Management Sytems (Kiem) Kits.
Preliminary reports indicate that the assailants got away with the equipment in what is suspected to have been an inside job.
The incident was reported on Thursday night.
An information technology (IT) officer at the commission based in Nyeri reported the matter prompting police to start a probe.
Police say a manhunt for the suspects is ongoing.
Noticeably, within the same area, several election petitions have been filed in court.
