NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 8 – The Acting Inspector General of Police Noor Gabow has appointed Dr Resila Atieno Onyango as the new National Police Service spokesperson.
The changes which were announced on Monday, November 7 saw former spokesperson Bruno Shioso move to the National Police Service Training Campus in Kiganjo as commandant.
At Kiganjo, Shioso will replace Japheth Koome who was nominated as the next Inspector General of Police.
The Kiganjo college Deputy commandant Philip Ndolo was recalled back to police headquarters.
Central Regional Police Commander Manase Musyoka was moved to Nairobi where he replaces James Mugera as Nairobi Police Commander. Mugera has attained retirement age.
Lydia Ligami and Paul Langat are the new Central and Western Regions Police Commanders respectively. Lang’at replaces Peris Muthoni who has also retired from the service.
Catherine Mugwe was named the new staff officer training at police headquarters.
Resila who became the first female police officer in the force to earn a doctorate degree, trained as a teacher graduating with her Education degree from Moi University.
She holds a Masters of Science degree in Criminology from the University of Pennsylvania and a PhD in Criminal Justice from the City University of New York (CUNY), USA.
