NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 30 – The Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji has applied to withdraw murder charges against Sarah Wairimu Cohen and her co-accused Peter Karanja.
Wairimu was accused of murdering her Dutch billionaire husband Tob Cohen alongside Karanja.
Deputy DPP Jacinta Nyamosi in a notice dated November 29, said that the prosecution against Wairimu and Karanja shall not continue.
The move by ODPP comes a month after her lawyer Philip Murgor called for fresh investigations to be conducted into the matter after a senior DCI detective John Gachomo swore an affidavit saying that he was forced to implicate High Court Judge Sankale Ole Kantai by former DCI boss George Kinoti.
Tob Cohen was reported missing in July 2019 and his body was later found in a septic tank in his Spring Valley home on September 2019.
