NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 15 – The German embassy in Nairobi Wednesday donated 25 computers to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in a boost.
German ambassador to Kenya Sebastian Groth handed over the computers to the DCI Director Mohamed Amin, who was accompanied by Directors from various departments on Wednesday.
The envoy appreciated the critical role played by the DCI in fighting crime especially in dealing with transnational organized crimes including terrorism and violent extremism.
He added his country would continue being a strategic security ally to the Directorate.
The DCI chief lauded the ongoing collaboration that had seen the Directorate benefit immeasurably from the ingenuity of the German people.
In particular, Amin acknowledged the support extended to the Crime Scene Investigations unit which has so far received scientific crime scene equipment worth over Sh50 million and the Police unit which has received a total of five vehicles and over 30 motorbikes in the past two years.
The DCI director hailed the ongoing partnership that has also seen over 100 officers benefit from courses sponsored by the German government locally and abroad through the GIZ programme and also through DCI’s collaboration with the Federal Criminal Police, BKA.
