Health workers working under the county government of Kisii have vowed to continue withdrawing their services at Nduru Hospital until they are assured of their safety.
The workers, through their unions have maintained that the heakth facility located in South Mugirango remains a risky working environment.
The Kisii Governor Simba Arati has also called on the police to move with speed and bring the attackers to book.
Arati has also claimed a local politician sponsored and organized the attack that left three medics and a driver injured on April 12.
The locals claimed they were opposed to the relocation of medical equipment by some senior medical staff in the county government.
Osoro however said those who were attacked were thieves, and that the residents were only protecting the hospital equipment from being stolen.
“We are asking our people at the market places, soapstone shops and sugar cane farmers not to pay any shilling to the county government till our hospital is in operational to serve our people,” Osoro said.
He further said he was ready to get doctors and nurses who will offer services from within, starting Monday, May 8.
