NAIROBI, Kenya May 12 -Evelyn Jepleting Tarus Cheluget has been named the new Director General of Immigration and Citizen Services.
She replaces Alexander Muteshi who has proceeded on terminal leave.
Ms Cheluget, from Nandi County, has served in various position at the Department including the Immigration attache at the Kenyan Mission in Washington DC.
She was also among the 585 candidates who were shortlisted for the position of Principal Secretary in October 2022.
She holds Masters of Arts Degree in Diplomacy and International Studies and Master of Business Administration (Strategic Management) , both from the University of Nairobi and Bachelor of Arts from Egerton University.
In a memo to the staff, Muteshi said the new boss will take over on May 15 and urged them to accord her all the necessary support.
Muteshi, a former National Intelligence Service (NIS) senior officer joined the department in 2018.
At the NIS, he was the Director of Counter Terrorism and is honoured with the prestigious Presidential Commendations and Awards including the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS), 2016 and Order of the Grand Warrior of Kenya (OGW).
He holds a Masters of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Nairobi, with technical training locally and internationally including Armed Conflict, International Relations and Intelligence Leadership and Management from Sherman Kent School (USA).
He is also a graduate of National Defense College (NDC) Kenya
