KIAMBU Kenya August 3 -Two Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives and two other members of the public have been arrested after they robbed two students of Sh680,000 in Juja.

Corporal Benson Kitheka Mutisya and Constable Kennedy Muriuki Gathathu both of Kamukunji DCI had on July 31 hijacked Robinson Mogaka, a third year student at Machakos University as he was driving from Embu where he had attended a ceremony.

“On reaching Kenyatta Road in Juja, he was blocked by a white motor vehicle registration number KCX 965B.Three men armed with a pistol handcuffed him and forced him to take them to his friend Abdulrahaman’s house,” police said.

They also handcuffed him and took them to Total Petrol Station in Marurui where they forced them to fuel their vehicle.

Later, they transferred Sh85,000 from Mogaka’s phone and another USD 4,300 from both Mogaka and his friend Juma through Binance online transaction.

On Wednesday August 2, they went again to Juma’s house. However, undercover detectives from Juja DCI who had been tipped off laid a trap and managed to arrest the two officers and two other suspects.

The other two were identified Mutenge Mbeti, 36, and Lewis Ndirangu Kariuki, 32.

Corporal Kitheka was armed with a Jericho pistol, serial number KEKP 44338928 and a police radio.

The two vehicles which the officers were using, Toyota Auris registration number KCX 965B and Volkswagen Polo registration number KCC 501S have been detained by the detectives.
