KAJIADO Kenya August 3 -Detectives are pursuing male suspect who is believed to have murdered a female police officer at Mashuuru, Kajiado Central on Wednesday August 2.

The deceased officer has been identified as Constable Diana Mwende who was attached to Emali Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) police station.

She was stabbed on the neck and face using a sharp object in an incident that occurred at around 8pm Wednesday at Texas plot, Umasaini area.

Neighbours told police they saw a man, carrying a blood-stained knife, walk out of the deceased’s house and they gave a chase in vain.

Other witnesses said they heard a commotion at the house belonging to the officer before a man with a bloody knife was seen taking off. The officer body was discovered at her door step.

The officer had already succumbed to the injuries by the time police officers arrived at the scene. The body of the deceased is at Kilome Nursing and Maternity Mortuary as police hunt for the suspect.

Confirming the incident, Mashuuru Sub County police commander Charles Chepkonga said preliminary investigations point out that the suspect is known by neighbors.

“It is unfortunate that a life was lost.  We have taken up the matter and commenced investigation into the motive of the murder. We have crucial information that is helping us pursue the suspect,” said Chepkonga.
